First, you’ll want to make sure that your Mac and Apple TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Then, you’ll want to open Control Center (swipe down from the top-right corner on newer Mac models or swipe up from the bottom of the display) and click the Screen Mirroring icon.

A list of available AirPlay devices will appear. Select your Apple TV, and if prompted to enter a passcode on your TV, do so. Once you’ve done that, everything on your Mac will be shown on the TV. If you want to change the primary display, you can do so from your system settings.
