How To Enable AirPrint On Mac?
How To Enable AirPrint On Mac? Printing from your Mac is easy if your printer supports AirPrint. AirPrint allows you to wirelessly print documents or photos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch without the need for additional drivers or software.
However, sometimes printing from your Mac can become a hassle due to various errors. This article will show you how to troubleshoot the most common problems with printing from your Mac.
1. Open the Printers & Scanners app:
Using AirPrint, you can print from any app on your Mac to a wireless printer. You can also view or cancel any print jobs that are currently printing. The Printers & Scanners app is available on the Home screen, in the Dock, or by double-clicking the home button (for devices that have one) or swiping up from the bottom of the screen and pausing (for devices that don’t have a home button).
If your printer uses Wi-Fi to communicate with the Mac, it can use AirPrint to connect to your network. It can’t use AirPrint if it’s connected to an AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule over USB, however.
If your printer supports it, your Mac and printer can automatically set up a Wi-Fi connection. To do this, both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network and you must open the document or photo you want to print in the app that you’re using. The app should then offer to send the job to the printer over Wi-Fi. If the option isn’t available, your printer may require you to connect it to a cable or download new software.
2. Select the printer you want to use:
Apple’s AirPrint technology allows iPhone and iPad users to print documents/photos without the need for drivers. However, enabling it on an older printer can be difficult. Luckily, there are a few simple steps that can make any printer compatible with AirPrint.
The first step is to ensure that the printer is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac. Then, open the app you want to use and select File > Print. If the printer appears in the list, it’s ready to use.
Alternatively, you can connect the printer directly to your Mac using a USB cable or via a wired Ethernet connection. If you’re using a wired connection, make sure that the printer is powered on and connected to your router or ethernet switch.
You can also check that the printer is properly configured by choosing Apple menu > System Preferences, then clicking Printers & Scanners. Choose your printer from the list, and then click the Options tab to see whether there are any additional settings that you need to adjust.
3. Click the Printers tab:
AirPrint is a feature that allows your Mac and iOS devices to print to compatible printers over Wi-Fi. You can use AirPrint with any app that supports printing, including iBooks, Mail, Safari, and the App Store apps.
You can also use it with a wirelessly connected AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule. AirPrint uses Bonjour (zero-configuration networking or zeroconf) to connect to printers and other Apple devices over a Wi-Fi network.
To enable AirPrint, you need three things: a Wi-Fi network that supports AirPrint, an Apple device with the latest version of iOS or macOS, and a printer that’s compatible with AirPrint. To set up a printer with AirPrint, you can either use the Printers app on your iOS device or open System Preferences on your Mac and select Printers and Scanners (it’s called System Preferences > Printers and Scanners on older versions of the operating system).
Before setting up your printer with AirPrint, make sure that it is turned on and is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac. You can also check that the printer is ready for use by opening a document or photo in an app on your Apple device and selecting File > Print.
4. Select AirPrint:
Apple’s AirPrint technology allows you to wirelessly print documents, photos, emails, and more from your iPhone or iPad to compatible printers. It’s a convenient and efficient way to print without the need for additional drivers or software.
To use AirPrint, both your Mac computer and your printer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Most printers come with step-by-step instructions for connecting them to your Wi-Fi network, so make sure you follow those before proceeding.
The AirPrint feature is built into most modern printers. However, older printers may not support it. If yours doesn’t support AirPrint, you can still print from your iOS device or Mac using third-party apps that support it (see a list of available options here). These apps send the printing job to a server, which then forwards it to your printer over Wi-Fi. You can also print from your Mac using a USB cable or over the printer’s direct Ethernet connection. This option is less convenient but can work in some situations.
5. Click OK:
If you have a compatible printer, it can be used with iOS devices and Macs without the need for an app or additional drivers. This is possible because of a feature called Apple AirPrint.
Using AirPrint, you can print photos, email, web pages, documents, and more from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your printer. You can even print a PDF file without having to transfer it first on your Mac.
The prerequisite for using AirPrint is that both the iOS device and the printer must be on the same WiFi network. You can also use ad hoc printing, which works without a wireless router.
If you have an old printer that doesn’t support AirPrint, you can still connect it to your home network. There are several ways to do this, depending on your skill level and whether you like tinkering. For example, you can use a Raspberry Pi to make an AirPrint translator for your old printer. You can find instructions on how to do this in this article by John Graham-Cummings at Linux Magazine and in this article by the GeekBitZone team.
