How To Connect AirPods To iPhone For The First Time? Whether you’re getting a new pair of AirPods or just trying them out, pairing them with your iPhone is easy. All you need is a compatible iPhone, a charged case, and access to the internet.
First, make sure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS and that Bluetooth is enabled. Then, open the case and follow the onscreen instructions.
1. Turn On Bluetooth:
Whether you’re connecting AirPods to an iPhone for the first time or switching from another device, the process is easy and should only take a couple of minutes. Just make sure that your iOS device is up to date with the latest version and that your AirPods are charged.
You’ll also need to make sure that Bluetooth is turned on. If it isn’t, open the Settings app, tap Bluetooth, and toggle the slider on.
Once the setup is complete, you’ll be able to connect your AirPods with a single tap. Once connected, they’ll automatically reconnect whenever you put them in your ears. You can also change the audio source from the Control Center or in a specific app like Spotify.
If you’re connecting your AirPods to a Mac or PC, the process is essentially the same. Click the volume icon in the menu bar or select Bluetooth from the Add a Device window that opens (MacOS) or the Apple menu. After the AirPods appear in the list of available devices, follow any additional prompts to enable features like Hey Siri and privacy preferences.
2. Open the AirPods Case:
If you have an Apple device, like an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, the process of connecting AirPods is easy. The earbuds automatically connect to Apple devices and most third-party devices that support Bluetooth.
The first step is to open the case. Make sure the earbuds are inside and that the setup button on the back of the case is pressed down. Then, hold the case next to an Apple device or other Bluetooth device that supports Bluetooth.
A popup will appear on the screen asking if you want to connect AirPods. After a second or two, the earbuds will begin playing audio and you’ll be able to use them with your device. This method works with all generations of Apple AirPods and the latest Apple AirPods Pro. If you’re trying to connect to a non-Apple device, it may take a little longer for the earbuds to pair. However, once paired with an iOS device, AirPods will automatically re-pair with that same device every time you open the case. This is because Apple uses iCloud to make the connection process happen at the same time on all your devices that are signed into your iCloud account.
3. Hold the Hold Button on the AirPods Case:
There are only a few steps you need to take to connect your AirPods to an iPhone. Make sure your AirPods and case are charged (they provide up to 12 hours of listening time). Then open the case next to your iPhone and tap Connect. If asked to set up Siri voice assistant or offer a free trial of Apple Music, follow the on-screen prompts.
The process is the same for connecting your new AirPods to other Apple devices, such as an iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. Once you connect AirPods to an iPhone, they can automatically appear on your other Apple devices — and even your Apple TV and Mac if you have them connected to the same iCloud account.
To connect to an iPad, start by making sure your AirPods are fully charged. Then open the case and press and hold the physical Setup button on the back of the case until its indicator light flashes white for a few seconds. After that, you’ll see a setup animation on your iPad. Once it finishes, you can follow the on-screen instructions to pair your AirPods.
4. Open the AirPods Case:
If your AirPods are in the case and they’re connected to another iPhone on the same iCloud account, the AirPods should automatically connect when you open the case. This is true for the latest generation of AirPods and for any other Apple wireless headphones that use Bluetooth.
Open Control Center on your iPhone or iPad and long press the Bluetooth icon (see image above). If you see a pair of AirPods with a white light on the case, the AirPods are in pairing mode.
AirPods in this case can also connect to other Apple devices if they’re not signed into an iCloud account. With the AirPods in the case and the case open. Bring the case near an iPhone or iPad and press the setup button on the back of the case until the light on the front of the case flashes white.
You may be asked to select a language and a region or to enable “Hey Siri” functionality, and you’ll be shown your audio options for the device. Once you’re done, you can tap Connect.
5. Tap Connect:
Once the AirPods case is connected to your iPhone, it will appear in a list of available Bluetooth devices. If you see the AirPods listed, select them and follow any instructions that appear onscreen. On iOS, this will typically include choosing whether to enable the “Hey Siri” functionality and confirming your privacy preferences.
You might also be asked to disconnect any other Bluetooth headphones. Speakers, or other audio devices you have paired with your iPhone. This is a necessary step because the AirPods are trying to connect with your iPhone. And won’t succeed if another device is already using them.
If your iPhone is running an older version of iOS. You may need to update it before you can connect to the AirPods. Apple recommends updating to iOS 13 or later for the best experience with AirPods. You can download the latest version of iOS from Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone.
